In God's Grace
By
Mark A. Brickey
I look at their tiny tear streaked faces
Trying to think of how to sooth them
But how do you explain why those people died
I brush the tears from my own face
Searching for a way to remove this disgrace
But for what was done, it can never be justified
I long to tell them not to worry
That sometimes god is just in a hurry
And takes as many angels as he needs
But to these ends I will not lie
There was no reason for them to die
And for those people my heart truly bleeds
I try to tell them that it's all right
That some people have just lost sight
Of the true

Sight
Opening my eyes I see life
The sun showing me all that is
A bird jumping from branch to branch
Children watching it and wishing
Opening my eyes I see a flower
Soft and gentle to the touch
An aromatic display of natures perfection
Pieces in the puzzle of life
Opening my eyes I see all I love
Slowly leaving this earth
Careless abandon destroys
Pleasure lost and never regained
Opening my eyes I see mankind
A disgrace that we can not hide
Selling all the beauty of life
To the highest bidder.
Closing my eyes I see the truth
a dark abyss of nothing
no pleasure and no pain
sleep eternal my sweet chil
Love Again
By
Mark A. Brickey
Time....no beginning....no end
the graduated increments we exist in
are but a moment that passes in the blink of an eye
the people that pass through our life
stop for a second, just long enough to distort our perceptions
to confuse our grasp on reality
to convince us that love is eternal
when in reality it is a fleeting thing
all to often the love that one feels
is only temporarily shared by the other
is it the beginning
for if there is a beginning
then there must also be an end
as painful as my reality is
it is the one in which I reside
for every equal there is an opposite
for every pl
Memories of You
By
Mark A. Brickey
The end is beginning
I empty my heart into a world that does not exist
hoping for one fleeting moment of acceptance
the emptiness slowly fills with the love I lost
could this be a new start or just the beginning of a new ending
I spend a moment of this precious life given me
to reach out for you and all that you are
understanding comes slowly
what I have endeavored to recapture is an illusion
beginnings are always wonderful
but they always lead to an end
the end always hurts
I fall gracelessly into the darkness that is my life
wondering if the light I chase is truly meant for me
or is it ju
Don't Cry for Me
By
Mark A. Brickey
I gazed into her eyes and saw everything I am
Through my tears I said my final goodbye
One of the few women I ever said I love you to
Was lost to me, she was soon going to die
She whispered to me "please don't shed a tear".
"My love you shall have forever more"
Softly I kissed her and told her I missed her
I held her like she had held me many times before
The last words she spoke to me
Will always be etched upon my memories
"I love you, don't cry for me" and I slowly walked out the door
I lost a piece of my heart and soul on that night
I knew I would never again see such
I exist in a world of crystalline perceptions
Living for the fragile dreams of your desires
In the hopes of fulfillment I grant you my heart
A pleasurable moment bathed in your body's fire
Holding you close I can feel your body tremble
Emotions trying to escape from their lonely cell
The inevitable conclusion to your lost passions
Leading you to a love that your mind can't dispel
I thrive in the world that others only dare to dream of
Your pleasures are my passions whatever they may be
Delving into your mind I reach down inside of you
This is my gift; I will release you to your fantasies
Slowly the whispers begin to take hold

A Mirror with No Reflections
By

I live in a darkness of my own creation
A solitary journey into my lonely past
Forgiving and forgetting is beyond me
I must learn to live in the fate I have cast
Meaningless contemplations of what is wrong
Lend to the depths of despair that I reside in
Aimless wonderings of passions forever lost
Contribute to my participation in a game I can never win
So much of life left for me to experience
So many emotions beyond my perceptions
I dream of the life most take for granted
To live in a mirror with no reflections
They tell me these memories will fade in time
That I can forget and t
The Truth
By
Mark A. Brickey
Sentimental journey's down memory lane
Remembrances of the innocence of youth
A last ditch effort to recapture lost dreams
Digressions in stature searching for the truth
Will we ever truly know what it is that binds us?
Can we ever really explain what brought us here?
Can we build a future of what we learned in the past?
Or will we suffer in agony as our dreams disappear
A monumental achievement of astronomic proportions
Being able to blend two persons heart and soul
An effort sustained through desires of the heart
To release your body's passions to another's control
Is this just another momentary l
The Reality of You
By
Mark A. Brickey
I see her in my dreams
The reality of you is better
I awaken from my slumber
But I can't seem to forget her
The distance of infinity between us
Yet I can still smell your sweet scent
The loss of my soul to remind me
Of the wonderful moments we have spent
I can feel your presence under my touch
But not the love that was once in your heart
The one that I love has been taken from me
I want that love back, but where do I start.
Your heart and soul are lost to me
They have slipped beyond my reach
I run into this impenetrable cold mental wall
That the warmth of my heart can't breach
Let your

Unicorn Dreams
There is a place of long lost dreams
A world of myths and wonderful magic
A place where dreams can become reality
And the troubles of your life don't seem so tragic
It's an oasis of pleasure for the minds eye
And with a thought it is what you want it to be
A masterful deception of astronomical proportions
A trip through the never ending world of fantasy
Where a unicorn can sit on a peak above the clouds
And carefully guard a kingdom that is yours
To ward off all those evil things that come
And make sure your peaceful reign endures
It all seemed so easy, it all seemed so right
Until I awoke with the break of dawn
ELECTRIC LOVE
We travel through computer time and space
Just to find this one solitary place
Where our two hearts can merge as one
We bare the depths of our souls
We seek to find common goals
And play under a computer generated sun
While in this synthetic cyber place
We perform a union of such tender grace
Even the real world people find it hard to believe
That through this electric form of communication
Our passions have reached to such an elevation
That they all find it so very hard to concieve
Could it be possible through telephone lines
To meet the one that your heart defines
As the love you have been missing all your li
ALL THAT SHE IS
By Mark Alan Brickey
The powers of passion are hers to control
To weave into the patterns of her mind
They are the essence of her heart and soul
And to her persuasions no man can be blind
Amidst her beauty all else around her pales
She is the vision in every mans dreams
The radiance of her smile any description fails
And in her eyes the starlight brightly gleams
She is the definition of pure sensuality
She puts the flame in every mans heart
She defies anyone's grasp on reality
Just to be close to her would tear my soul apart
I hope she understands how special she really is
I hope she knows how I really do feel
The Crossing
By
Mark Alan Brickey
Floating endlessly on a sea of mist
Enshrouded by the darkness only he and I can see
Following the paths that my life has chosen
He guides me through the final moments in search of my destiny
Slowly, inexorably it reaches to its conclusion
Grasping desperately, seemingly in vain
Why I thought that I would be an exclusion
From the morality of life that we all must maintain
I look longingly at where I have been
Wishing for the things that I know I can't change
While the boat that I'm on keeps drawing closer
He whispers, "Its too late, fate you cant rearrange"
I cry softly, my face cupped in my ha

PASSIONS FLARED IN A BLAZE OF GLORY
AS THEIR LIPS MET FOR THE FIRST TIME
EYES CLOSED AND BREATH HELD TIGHT
PARALYZED IN A MOMENT SO SUBLIME
PLEASURE INCREASING MOMENT BY MOMENT
REACHING THE POINT OF NO RETURN
ARMS WRAPPED AROUND EACH OTHER
AS THEIR SOULS START TO YEARN
HEART BEAT INCREASES AS FEELINGS IGNITE
TASTE SO SWEET SO SOFT AND TEPID
EMOTIONAL MELT DOWN WITH NO RESPITE
A PLEASURE FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTREPID
ALAS A PARTING OF LIPS THAT WERE LOCKED TIGHT
A SEPARATION OF HEARTS THAT WERE COMBINED
BUT ONLY FOR A FEW LONG MOMENTS
SOON THEIR BODIES WOULD BE ENTWINED
SANDS OF TIME
BY MARK ALAN BRICKEY
SHE WALKS THROUGH THE SANDS
IN THE SOFT OCEAN BREEZE
HER THOUGHTS FLOW FREELY
ACROSS THE BEAUTIFUL MOONLIT SEA
SHE DREAMS OF A TIME
WHEN HER LIFE WAS SO SURE
EVERYTHING WAS SO EASY
HER HOPES WERE SO PURE
SHE LOOKS BACK ON HER TRAVELS DOWN THE PATHS OF LIFE
AND THINKS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO BE UNDERSTOOD
FOR SOMEONE TO HAVE HELD HER, TOLD HER SHE IS SPECIAL
AND CARESS HER LIKE NO OTHER COULD
TO MERGE WITH HER BODY AND SOUL
SHARE EACH OTHER'S INTERESTS
TO SHARE EACH OTHER'S GOALS
SHE FALLS INTO THE SAND AND BEGINS TO CRY

A BLESSING CALLED ELIZABETH
SHE WALKED THIS EARTH EVEN IN HER DARKEST MOMENTS

GIVING HOPE BACK TO THOSE WHO WERE IN NEED
LIFTING HER GENEROUS HANDS TO HOLD THEM UP
AND EXCEPTING NO PRAISE FOR HER KIND DEEDS
HELPING TO BUILD UP PRECIOUS SELF ESTEEM
AND WATCHING IT GROW FROM A FEW LITTLE SEEDS
SHE NEVER ASKED FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN
SHE WOULD NEVER TELL YOU WHEN SHE WAS IN NEED
SHE NEVER STOPPED SHARING HER LOVE WITH OTHERS

THEIR PASSIONS EMERGED WITH THE TOUCH OF THE SUN
THEY KNEW AT THAT MOMENT THEIR FATE HAD BEEN DECIDED
THE HANDS OF LOVE HAD TAKEN HOLD
AND THROUGH THE CONSUMMATION OF WHAT THEY HAD STARTED
THEY EACH HAD FOUND A HEART OF GOLD
THE PLEASURES THEY ENJOYED INCREASED DAY BY DAY
THE PASSION CONSUMED THEM BODY AND SOUL
THE LOVE THAT THEY FELT CONTROLLED THEIR EMOTIONS
THEY LIVED FOR EACH AND EVERY MOMENT THAT THEY STOLE

Its numerous facets are a wonder to behold
Its beauty changes with its surroundings
The heart of it glows in a million different colors
Just the sight of it is really quite astounding
What could it be?
Would it be a star that shines in the heavens above?
Shining bright enough for the entire world to see
Lighting the darkness in my nights
Leaving my world in such tranquility
Beautiful but not it!
Could it be a jewel that rests on my hand?
Lightening my heart with the wonderful glow
Guessing its value is really quite impossible
Only with your heart will you ever truly know
A joy to see but still not it!

Forward Lies A Beacon

As I travel down this lonesome road
That is better known as life
I once again encounter
A crossroad....filled with strife
I can choose to journey forth
Not knowing where I'm bound
Or return to what I know already
Just by slowly turning round
Forward lies a beacon
Emitting warmth and light
Behind me lies a broken heart
And blackness like the night
The decision should be easy
But I struggle with the choice
"Are you really brave enough"
Whispers a soft and lonely voice
I turn and look behind me
Recalling all that could have been
Can I rewrite what has happened
If I just try again?
Once again I
The pleasure of poetry is in the mind, it stimulates every aspect of your emotions when it is done properly. I try to write so that most people can relate to it and realize that all emotions are good....without bad feelings there would be no good ones, without hate what would love be other than common place
The ability to express these emotions in words is what makes a poet...learn to write from your heart, dont buffer your emotions...place them out there for everyone to see and you will have reached the best of your potential....show some heart write a poem
I am looking for backgrounds for some of my poems if you read one and know of a good background picture for it let me know
